From Storyteller to Advocate to Healer

I spent over a decade as a professional journalist, dedicated to the art of the interview and providing a platform for underrepresented voices. Over time, I realized that the most important stories aren't the ones we read in the news—they are the ones we tell ourselves about who we are when life feels like it’s unraveling.

This realization led me to serve as a victims advocate for a non-profit, supporting survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and child abuse. It was there that I discovered my true calling: not just documenting stories of pain, but helping people heal from them and reclaim their place as the main character of their own lives.

Today, as the founder of Woven Hearts Counseling, I’ve traded my reporter’s notebook for a therapeutic "loom." I help individuals and couples navigate the frayed edges of life, specializing in the intersection of Mending and Re-authoring.

Mending the Past: Healing & Connection

In this work, we focus on repairing the threads that have been frayed by trauma or distance. I use evidence-based models to help you move beyond "just talking" toward deep, nervous-system-level healing.

  • Relational Trauma & Attachment: Whether you are healing from childhood neglect, betrayal, or complex trauma, we use EMDR to rewire your brain for safety and build a "secure base" within yourself.

  • Relationship & Couples Support: Using the "gold standard" of EFT (Emotionally Focused Therapy), I help couples and families move from protection to connection. We work to identify negative cycles and mend the frayed foundations of your most important relationships.

Re-authoring the Future: Identity & Agency

Once we mend the wounds, we look toward the future. I help you deconstruct the "old stories" you've been told and intentionally write a new chapter that reflects who you are today.

  • Chronic Illness & Medical Trauma: Living with conditions like CKD or autoimmune disease means your life is often measured in "spoons." Drawing from my own firsthand experience, I help the "Spoonie" community use ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy) to find "Chronic Courage" and process the trauma of medical gaslighting or diagnosis.

  • Midlife Identity Redesign: Midlife often brings a "messy middle"—a time when the roles of the past (parent, caregiver, or career professional) no longer feel like a perfect fit. Using Narrative Therapy, we work to navigate empty nests, career pivots, and identity shifts, allowing you to reclaim your agency and intentionally re-author your next chapter.
