From Storyteller to Advocate to Healer
I spent over a decade as a professional journalist, dedicated to the art of the interview and providing a platform for underrepresented voices in my community. Over time, I realized that the most important stories aren't the ones we read in the news—they are the ones we tell ourselves about who we are when life feels like it’s unraveling. This realization lead me to shift my professional focus and spend time working as a victims advocate at a non-profit raising community awareness and supporting victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, and child abuse. From there, I knew I wanted to invest my time and energy supporting folks in healing from painful life experiences & reclaiming their place as main character of their life’s story.
Today, as the founder of Woven Hearts Counseling, I’ve traded my reporter’s notebook & advocacy placard for a therapeutic "loom." I help individuals navigate the frayed edges of life, specializing in three core areas where our identities often feel most vulnerable:
Relational Trauma & Relationship Support: Using EMDR and EFT, we move beyond "just talking" to heal the deep-seated wounds of childhood neglect, betrayal, or complex trauma. We work to rewire your nervous system for safety and build a secure base within yourself. We also provide relationship support for couples, families, and any significant life relationship where repair is needed. We can help re-thread the foundations of your relationship with self and others.
Midlife Redesign: For those in the "messy middle" of life—navigating career pivots, empty nests, or the "sandwich generation" squeeze—I use Narrative Therapy to help you deconstruct old obligations and re-author a future that reflects your true values.
Chronic Illness & Pain Support: Living with conditions like CKD or autoimmune disease means your life is often measured in "spoons" and lab results. I provide a specialized space for the "Spoonie" community to process medical trauma and find "Chronic Courage" through ACT.
My approach is an intentional weaving of these evidence-based threads, moving at a pace that respects your energy and your history. Licensed in NC and SC, I’m here to help you mend the threads and move forward with purpose. When I’m not in the virtual therapy room, I’m usually at home in the Carolinas with my husband, teen kids, and two faithful "co-therapists"—my dogs, Lucy and Lady.
