The Art of Weaving: How We Heal

At Woven Hearts Counseling, we believe therapy should match the client’s needs versus conforming the client to the therapeutic approach. We’ve stitched together evidence-based practices to provide the care you need, in the way you need it.

Her life was a tapestry woven together with stories of joy and sadness moments of pain but also hope— and within those threads of life she created herself in every stitch of colored string.

Honoring Your Story (Narrative Therapy): We begin by looking at the chapters of your life. Often, the problems we face try to write our story for us. Using Narrative Therapy, we externalize those challenges, reclaiming your voice and rediscovering the strengths that have been there all along.

Healing the Heart (Emotionally Focused Therapy - EFT): We are hardwired for connection. Using the gold standard of couples and individual therapy, we explore the patterns in your relationships. We work to shift from "protection" to "connection," building a secure base where you feel truly seen and safe.

Processing the Past (EMDR): Sometimes, talk therapy isn't enough because trauma is stored in the body and the nervous system. EMDR allows us to process painful memories so they no longer "fire" in the present, moving them from a distressing "now" to a peaceful "then."

Embracing the Present (Acceptance & Commitment Therapy - ACT): Healing isn't just about looking back; it’s about moving forward. Using ACT, we practice mindfulness to stay present and clarify your deepest values. We focus on taking "committed action" toward a life that feels meaningful, even in the midst of pain or difficult transitions.

Together, we mend the frayed threads and weave a narrative that reflects your resilience and your future.

At Woven Hearts Counseling, we don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all approach. We weave together evidence-based modalities—including EMDR, ACT, EFT, and Narrative Therapy—to address the specific "frayed threads" in your life.

1. Relational Trauma & Relationship Support

Healing the past to find safety in the present. If you grew up in an environment of neglect, or if you’ve experienced the "shattering" of a primary relationship through betrayal or divorce, your nervous system may stay in a state of high alert. We work together to move beyond just "talking" about the past and toward actually rewiring your sense of security. We also provide relationship support to heal those wounds relationally.

  • Best for: Childhood emotional neglect, betrayal trauma, "people-pleasing," persistent feelings of "not being enough," and current relation disconnection & conflict.

  • The Approach: We use EMDR to process traumatic memories and EFT to understand your attachment style, helping you build a "secure base" within yourself and your relationships.

2. Midlife Identity Redesign

Re-authoring your story for the "messy middle." Midlife often brings a quiet, heavy question: "Who am I now that I’m no longer just a parent / a spouse / a career professional?" Whether you are navigating an empty nest, a career pivot, or the "sandwich generation" pressure of caring for both children and aging parents, we help you reclaim your agency.

  • Best for: Burnout, identity crises, career transitions, and the "What’s next?" phase of life.

  • The Approach: Using Narrative Therapy, we deconstruct the "old stories" of obligation and use ACT to clarify your current values, ensuring your next chapter is one you actually want to live.

3. Chronic Illness & Pain Support

Finding "Chronic Courage" in a life changed by diagnosis. Living with an invisible illness like CKD, autoimmune disease, or chronic pain is an emotional marathon. I provide a specialized, "spoon-friendly" space where you feel accepted and understood. We address the medical trauma and grief that often accompany a diagnosis.

  • Best for: The "Spoonie" community, CKD/Renal support, autoimmune struggles, and medical gaslighting recovery.

  • The Approach: We focus on Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to find meaning even on high-symptom days, and use EMDR to process the trauma of medical procedures or life-altering health shifts.
